This year, we have used 7 different tools:
- WordPress: it allows you to create your own blog on internet. Every activity we have done was linked to our blog on wordpress.
- Flickr: it allows you to put your pictures on internet. We have put some photos of Sao Paulo, and then we’ve posted a comment about one of the pictures on our blogs.
- 43 Things: it’s a site where you can make a list of things you want to do, or things you wanted and managed to do. We have posted 4 comments on our blog about these things.
- 43 places: this site is a lot like 43 things, but you can only make a list of places. We have also posted 4 comments on the blog.
- Blogline: this site allows you to put every blog you like together on the same site, so you can easily read them all.
- Community walk: this site allows you to create your own maps, with your own markers. Actually, here you can find a satellite picture based map where you can put your markers on. One of the maps we have created was about our field trip in the center of Sao Paulo.
- Del.icio.us: this site allows you to gather every site you like, as in a favourites list. You can also see what are the other people’s favourites sites, and bring it to your own list.
In my opinion, most of these sites are very interesting, like wordpress and del.icio.us., on which I have opened myself another account just for fun. 43 things and 43 places are also nice, because we get to know the others better, as we get to know their ambitions and interests. And plus, we can find people from the whole world who have the same interests we do.Flickr is a nice site when you don’t want to lose your digital photos. You just put them on the site and that’s it. It is also an interactive site, so you can see other people’s pictures. I think this is really nice. Community Walk is a lot like Google Earth. The maps are practically the same, sometimes even better. So I think it is also an interesting site. The only site I didn’t really like was blogline, because I don’t frequently read blogs. But it can be useful for people who do.All of these sites are interactive, which means you can have access to other people’s pages. People are getting closer and closer because of the internet, and I really like this. It gets easier to make friends on the other side of the planet, for example. Maybe the only disadvantage is that every information you put on these sites will be seen by every and anyone, so there is maybe a lack of privacy. But then it’s a matter of being careful and not putting informations such as your adress, your whole name, etc.I think we should continue our blog on classes to come, put more information on the social sites (more pictures, more sites on del.icio.us, etc), and contact othe people from other countries (pen-pals!).
